Message-ID: <18207.70.16.52.189.1212322096.squirrel@www.bbc-cortland.org> Well, yes, of course...it's a river...sure they would have water. HOWEVER, now they have WELL WATER at the Moose River Baptist Camp ! Looks like camp will be able to happen this summer. Piping should be installed next week. Funds are still needed. And, speaking of funds, the folks at Oswegatchgie (First Baptist - Pastor Merton Parks) have gone for several weeks without the use of their furnace. Pray for the funds to get some major work done so that this can be ready for the return of cold weather. Keep on... She came through the surgery in a remarkable way considering all that was done - removal of her cancerous thyroid, removal of her gall bladder and more work in the colon area. However, she contracted a serious staph infection but seems to be recovering from that due to a very strong antibiotic. She needs continued prayer is she continues to battle this cancer. She will definitely have to have more chemotherapy when her body is healed sufficiently enough for that. I also have a personal request for myself. I discovered a small lump on the upper part of my left chest in late January. I went to my doctor just as soon as I could get an appointment. He thought it was just fatty tissue. He sent me for a chest x-ray which came back clear. However, the lump continued to grow and I went back to my doctor and he sent me to a pathologist and a surgeon. The pathologist did a needle biopsy and it did not show anything. The surgeon then called for an MRI of the chest. It showed a large mass in the upper left chest area. At that point I asked for an oncology surgeon to look at it and he ordered an open biopsy. The results revealed a malignant tumor. After consultation with the tumor board at the hospital my surgeon, radiologist and medical oncologist it was determined that the best course of action was to have six weeks of radiation followed by surgery with the possibility of further radiation after surgery. I begin the six weeks of radiation on Tuesday, June 17th. My surgeon told me that my problem is TREATABLE and CURABLE. I have three passionate desires as I go through this experience - (1) I want Jesus Christ to be magnified; (2) I want God's people to be edified; and (3) I want lost people to be evangelized. Please pray that these desires will be fulfilled abundantly as my family and I go through this experience. The Lord has already given me some fantastic opportunities to witness and I am trusting Him for more such opportunities. My people at Brooklyn Baptist Church have been so supportive. We had a fantastic service today and I am looking forward to the Lord really working in our midst in the future. Thank you for reading this long epistle and thank you, in advance, for all your prayers and concerns on behalf of me and my family. His unexpected death has shocked us all. Pray for his wife, Anita, and their five children and families.. On Sunday morning, Colin was having one of his migraine headaches and told Anita to go to church without him. When she returned, she first thought he was sleeping but after a few minutes sensed something wasn't normal. She called 911. The medics believed that he probably died soon after she left for church. We will share the details of funeral arrangements as soon as the family comes together. As of Sunday afternoon, they were traveling from various parts of the country to be with their mom in Piedmont, South Carolina. Please remember the Smiths in your prayers. The following email was sent to the ESFRBC and thus I am sending it out to you. Dr. Colin Smith is a dear brother in the LORD and in his passing, we can be assured of the words of our Lord when He says, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15 He will surely be missed but we will look forward to seeing him again in heaven. We will be in prayer for his family as well. NO TEARS PAST THE GATE Someone new has entered our eternal home above. The heavenly gate has opened wide to welcome the one you love. We cannot help the tears that fall- our hearts need time to grieve when earthly life has ended and a loved one has to leave. Yet even in the saddest time, we know our Savior lives, and we can trust completely in the promise that he gives. That in a glad reunion with the Lord, our loved ones wait to welcome us in joy with no more tears beyond the gate! Author Unknown In Christ's Love, Gary L. One of his former student, Josh Calhoun, delivered it at Smith's Memorial Service. It was too good not to share with each of you. He captured the persona of Colin. We will all truly miss his life and ministry. I heard via second hand (not sure how accurate it is) that it was his heart that caused his death. Please keep Anita in your prayers. The hardest is yet to come for this dear lady.
