Mindful Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show the great and mighty things which thou knowest not" John 15,7,8 Love and Prayers Fred's Dad and Mom/ George and Jean _____ From: Rachel Whitman [mailto:rwhitman at bmmitaly.com] Sent: Saturday, April 12, 2008 12:25 PM To: gpcjwhitman at frontiernet.net Subject: April showers of blessing Dear prayer partners, I hope you are on praying ground with the Lord for we have a bit of work for you to do. We are very excited about Jonathan and Melodee 's arrival today, and they will be bringing up from Rome another couple who are coming for a visit. We have not yet met Jon and Leanne Nussmeier so are looking forward to their ten day visit; they are on deputation for Italy with Baptist Mid-Missions . We have had an unusually busy spring (yes, it is already balmy here in Central Italy). Elizabeth, Daniel and Cristina were here in March; Daniel (along with his friend and former manager Tim Corey) spent much of the time working on revamping the computers of the radio station and a thousand other projects. On March 28 he led an all-day radio marathon which included the participation of the different speakers that have live programs throughout the day. Mauro Ferraris came all the way from Northern Italy for the day and Jeremy participated all the way form Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are getting a great team of folks from our church that are learning to do live programs. Daniel continues to direct the station from Clarks Summit until they can get the support needed to be here where they are so badly needed. They are still between 20-25%, but today the dollar hit another record low so as time passes they need more dollars to have the same amount of support. Pray that they can fill up their schedule for this fall, and that God would lead new churches to partner with them. If your church is interested in hearing their presentation you can contact them by writing to them on their website whitmanransom.com or by phone, (570) 351-2038. Jeremy and Francesca have sold their home and arrive in Italy on May 6th. Pray that Jeremy will soon find a job and Francesca can get started on finishing her college studies that she had suspended to marry Jeremy! We are excited to have them back and are trusting God to help them get settled back into Italian life. We have had an unusual number of folks visit the church this month, as well as calls from radio listeners or folks that watch the TV program. Most every Sunday the church is packed, and oftern there are visitors. Floriana (a middle aged woman), Alexxandra (Romanian teen),and Roman (Ukrainian young teen from Maria Luisa 's Sunday School class) have placed their trust in Christ since we last wrote. We have a number of young parents with little ones coming so we are anxious to be in the new church where we will have a room for the nursery. It is hard not to get frustrated when we have this building but cannot move in yet. We cannot start the remodeling work because of a lack of funds. We cannot have any groups come to help in the other projects until the steel structure (which will cost $60,000) is in place. We are praying for a miracle - God has no problem providing large sums, since He specializes in doing the impossible. Could we ask you to pray about what God might want you to do? If everyone who reads this letter could give something, we would begin to see God's provision for this project. God blessed the woman who gave the mite, as well as the one who gave more, so no gift is too small or too large! Our church folks are giving with great sacrifice to pay the monthly mortgage payment, as well as the rent and utilities. Just this month the electric and gas went up over 4%. Fred needs your prayers. He is having another episode with dizziness and high blood pressure like he did during our last furlough. The doctor ordered a number of tests and increased his BP medicine; she thinks the dizziness has to do with his degenerative neck and back. On Friday his dizziness was not getting better, so he was admitted to the hospital, where he is at now. God is not bringing Jonathan and Melodee back any too soon. Pray for Sara as she is attending classes preparing for university exams, and Joshua is keeping baby Rebecca (she is 10 months old and already walking!) while he continues his responsibilities in the church at Bologna. They have their hands full, but Sara is hopeful to be able to finish her degree by November 2008. We are humbled as we consider the sacrifices that many of you make to allow us to serve God here in Perugia. May God supply your every need. Jeff no longer needs the wheelchair as he has recovered enough, with the aid of a brace, to walk. He would like to give, at no cost, the wheelchair to some one who can use it. I checked with Pastor Walker in Oswego and he has advised me that no one in his church knows of any one who could use the wheel chair. Therefore any one who has a need for this chair please contact: Richard Parelli 607-842-6677 E-mail: rapski at frontiernet.net
